The runway returns to Queen’s: A night of style Belfast can’t miss.

Forget New York, Paris or Milan fashion week… the main event of the fashion calendar is happening right here in Belfast . The QUB Fashion Society annual fashion show is back, and this year it promises to be bigger and better than ever.

Taking place this Tuesday the 24th of March in Carlise Memorial Hall at 6pm, this highly anticipated event is set to transform the space into a runway experience like no other. Here’s the backstage scoop on why Equinox should be at the top of your plans this week.

Firstly, this year’s show, ‘Equinox’, promises to capture the moment where winter fades into spring. As the seasons shift, Equinox blends the depth and structure of winter styling with the lightness and renewal of spring. It offers the perfect opportunity for students to take inspiration from must wear or unique looks, showcasing the changing nature of fashion through the seasons, making it a show even Anna Wintour would not want to miss.

The event is also held not only to spotlight the incredible talent across Queen’s, but also to support a meaningful cause. This year is no exception with 100% of proceeds going to directly to Women’s Aid, demonstrating that fashion can be both expressive and impactful. As the society explains, “given the rise of violence against women in recent years, especially in Northern Ireland”, they wanted to be able to support the organisation’s “work to combat women who have been victim to domestic violence and abuse”. [1] Using their platform to raise awareness, they emphasise the importance of the proceeds going to “such a pertinent issue, especially because the fashion industry has always depended on the work of powerful women”. By attending, you’re not simply watching the runway, you’re backing fashion that stands for something.

It is more than just a runway show. This event shines a spotlight on the creativity across a wide range of societies within Queen’s. Brought to life through collaborations with groups such as the QUB Electronic Music Society and a performance from the band Vera, as well as an after-show celebration at Union Street, this night offers something for everyone . It symbolises a celebration of the arts and culture represented through fashion.
