Voter turnout so far is lowest in seven years

By Kylie Noble, editor, @Noble_Kylie

Despite increased turnout in candidates running this year, this has not translated into increased voter turnout among students.

Last year six positions were uncontested yet turnout by the end of the second day was at 2747, compared to 2158, according to official data from the SU.

It is worth noting that for years shown in the graph below prior to 2012, voting took place over two days and was significantly higher than levels have been across three days since 2012.

Data for 2009 is missing as it has not been provided by the SU.
